It's unthinkable that an amplifier of this calibre could be made in Europe for less than £750: every switch, connector and component is of the highest quality. The combination of the silky smooth valve preamp stage with the generous heft of solid stage power amplification gives a powerfully projected soundstage filled with beautifully drawn detail for completely unfatiguing hour-after-hour listening.

At its best with bright or revealing speakers, nonetheless it requires no special system matching and will happily drive difficult loads. It's also happy to lend its warmth and presence to preamp duty with pre-outs for pairing with power amplification or a pair of bi-amped Tripath units.

There's plenty of scope for tweaking and tube rolling, too: try Mullard CV4024's or your favourite IEC power cord to lift performance even further.
