New in the UK for 2011, Widealab's 'Aurender' range of transports feature switchable storage formats optimised for SSD playback, multiple, isolated power supplies, ultra-lean operating systems (Linux-based) optimised digital output and clocking stages. However, their models frankly take a few steps beyond ours in terms of useability and performance, with a slew of bespoke and proprietary innovations: featuring a bespoke iPad app, intelligent file storage management and a bullet-proof 'plug and play' software environment for the playback of WAV, FLAC, M4A, AIFF, APE files in allbit/ samples rates from 16/44.1 to 24/192.The design and build quality places these firmly at the high end of digital transports.
